Do you provide milk feeds?

Parents and carers are requested to bring pre-sterilised bottles and pre-measured feeds to Atelier Nursery if their child requires formula feeds during their session.  We are happy to also store breast milk, which should be brought to the nursery already in the child’s bottle/cup and given to a member of staff to be immediately transferred to the milk fridge.

Please label all bottles and formula milk powder with your child’s name and the date.

How does toilet training and nappy changing work at Atelier?

The nursery will work closely with parents to provide a united approach to toilet training.  Parents are asked to provide many changes of clothes during the initial stages.

When a child is in nappies, parents are asked to provide:

  • nappies (disposable or terry toweling).  Where terry toweling nappies are used, soiled nappies will be placed in a bag for the parents / carer to collect for laundering at the end of the day.

  • cotton wool or wipes

  • Nappy cream (if required)

How will my child be supported to sleep whilst at nursery?

Babies and young children are supported to follow the same sleep pattern that they follow at home. We will ask you to share in their routine during your settling sessions, please feel free to share any particular preferences your child may have. If your child likes to sleep with a comforter please bring it with you and ensure that your key-person is aware of its importance.

How is my child’s attendance registered?

Every child needs to be signed in and out of the nursery.  This ensures their safety and will support us in an evacuation.  The register is held in the hallway on a nursery IPad, during the start and end of every day our admin team will be based on the door to support a smooth transitions.  If however you are arriving or departing partway through the day please ensure you have spoken to your key person who will sign your child in or out.

How will my child’s belongings be stored?

Every child has their own peg, please place your child’s bag onto their peg so that they have a sense of belonging.  We would be grateful if you could label your child’s clothes and belongings as it helps us to make sure that the correct clothes are sent home with the right child.

How is best to communicate with the nursery?

Our staff work four full days so that they are able to meet with their key parents at both ends of the day.  Hopefully working in this way, means that you will be able to share in your child’s day and their experiences.  If you want to have more information, you can also share in a communication book that travels between nursery and home.  They are a great idea if you have more than one childcare provide, if you share pick-ups or just find yourself in a rush.  Please don’t hesitate to ask your key person to begin a communication book for you.

There is also a messenger function on Famly (our online communication platform) that will enable you to pass on any non-urgent messages to the nursery office.  Alternatively, you can call and chat to a member of the senior team at any point in the day.

How will my child’s learning be recorded?

Every child has a learning journal.  The journal celebrates the activities and opportunities that children complete during their day.  Your child’s learning journal is completed online and as such is available to you at all times. We encourage families to add some of the special times that happen at home to it, so please feel free to share!

How do I know when my key person is not working?

Our staff work a four-day week, which means that they may be absent on some of your sessions. When your key person is not at nursery, you will have a back-up who will care and support your child alongside their own family. A copy of your key persons shifts is available on your base room door, so you always know who to expect.
